Christmas Tree Drive-by

Well, it appears our little man is somewhat mobile. Cameron was in his red car exerciser last night watching me decorate the Christmas tree in the foyer. I had the Christmas tree lights turned on & was telling him about all the different ornaments I was putting on the tree. He was having a big time--mesmerized by the lights--and I was letting him touch some of the stuff before I placed it on the tree. I ran upstairs to get another bin of ornaments--I was gone no more than 3-4 minutes. In that amount of time, this little guy magically figured out how to move the walker & scooted his cute self right into the middle of my Christmas tree. He was quiet as a mouse & when I came back downstairs I was surprised to see how far he had gone. I said "Cameron Pierce, you're busted" & he squealed with delight. He thought it was so funny to be pulling the poinsettas off the tree. He's got glitter all over his head, arms, & feet from his little "drive-by" into the Christmas tree.

Happy 1st Thanksgiving

Cameron has had a big time with all the Thanksgiving festivities. He got to see all his cousins at the crazy 35+ people Crawford clan lunch held at Mom's on Sunday. Then we spent Thanksgiving day at Poppa & Gram's house with Tim's family. He was fascinated with Garrett & even took a nap after lunch--all that turkey must have made him sleepy! We went to Christmas on the River at Ross's Landing Friday night & saw Santa Claus for the first time. He was mesmerized by the lights, singing, dancing, & fireworks. He ate his dinner sitting down on the dock watching all the boats go by with their Christmas lights--what a hard life.

Coolidge Park Carousel

We had a family outing on Sunday to ride the carousel at Coolidge Park. We stopped first by Las Margaritas for lunch. Cameron LOVES chips & salsa. He also loves being outside & people watching so Coolidge Park on a Sunday afternoon was great for him. Tim & I got on the carousel with him & were surprised with how fast it goes. Tim could barely hold Cameron on the moving fish we picked for him to ride. The video is funny because it shows Cameron kicking his legs & Tim trying to keep him on the ride. You can hear me laughing in the background while I was filming them. Next time we'll make sure & put Cameron on an animal that doesn't move until he gets a little bigger.

"Just A Swingin"

Cameron has a new favorite hangout--the playground. We've been going to Vandergriff Park close to Hixson United Methodist Church to swing. He loves it. First of all he loves being outside period. Plus at the playground he has all these kids to watch. I'm afraid the poor boy is going to get whiplash turning his head back & forth while we're there trying to see everybody.

Of course he also loves all the attention he gets. He laughs & screeches at everyone & of course they stop to say hello--you can't resist him. The funny part is after about 20 minutes he gets so sleepy he can't keep his eyes open. He looks like a little robot shutting down as those eyes start to close & he drops his head to his chest--he's out like a light. The second picture is of him when we got home from the playground--he's doing one of those open-mouth breathing sessions.

A Not so Happy Halloween

Cameron didn't get to enjoy his first Halloween. His new sock monkey costume is still hanging in his closet. He had been out of sorts for two days--lots of crying which is just not like him. Cameron is usually an extremely happy baby--laughing, smiling, giggling unless he's hungry. I called the doctor on Friday when he started running a temperature. They thought he was just teething & told me to give him some Tylenol. My gut told me to go ahead & take him to the doctor anyway that something just wasn't right. Surely babies didn't cry like this for just teething. You better believe next time I'll follow my "mom' instinct. After a sleepless night, Tim & I took him to the doctor Saturday morning. Dr. May sent us staight to Children's Hospital as a direct admit. Cameron had a burst eardrum, the other ear was infected, & his white blood cell count was 31 and it should have been around 10!! Needless to say, Tim & I were worried but everything turned out okay. It ended up that he had the beginning stages of pneumonia. The nurses at Children's were great & Cameron got some big doses of antibiotics & got to go home on Sunday.

It's definitely not easy entertaining a sick 5 month old in a tiny hospital room--thanks Nana for the reinforcements. They put a heart rate sensor on his big toe which made it glow bright red. It looked like an E.T. toe. Now to a young boy who is fascinated with his feet at the moment, this sensor was hard to resist. We're glad to be home & hope we don't have to go back to the hospital for a LONG time.

I had to take some pictures of him with the hat of his sock monkey costume anyway. He's fascinated at the moment with leaves but I promise none actually made it into his mouth while we were taking these pictures.

Welcome to Fall

"Look, it's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown"

Cameron & I had a little photo shoot in the front yard today. He's four & a half months old & getting ready for his first Halloween. I know I better enjoy posing him now because when he gets bigger he might have a thing or two to say about it!!

You can tell how much he was enjoying me taking pictures of him.

Check out those blue eyes

Look Who's Talking!

I taped Cameron talking to me & the television set this morning while he was eating his cereal. He goes crazy kicking, laughing, & trying to talk when he hears music or when he thinks the cartoon characters on tv are talking to him. He's constantly making some sort of sound and I will admit that I talk to him a lot during the day when we're home alone. I catch myself telling him everything that's going on & he looks at me like he understands. I have a hunch he may take after his cousin Brock in the talking category. Brock is known to ask lots of questions.
You know how first-born children tend to be--Extremely bright & inquisitive!!

Blanket Boy

Cameron has a new trick this week. He's obsessed with putting things over his head/on his face. Now he's always had quite an attachment to his cotton burp cloths & likes to hold soft things in his hands, but he's taken this to the next level. He has now decided that bottles are better with the whole burp cloth covering your face. He disappears underneath his blanket until he's done eating--it's the funniest thing.

He also has started pulling the blankets in his crib up over his head throughout the night. Okay, I know this sounds dangerous & I've been obsessing about it but there's not a whole lot I can do to make him stop. There's definitely not a section in my "What to Expect" books that addresses a blanket on your face obsession!! I've got the blankets tucked in as securely as I can get them but he still manages to wriggle them free. Tim assures me that he won't suffocate--Tim them demonstrates the breathability of the cotton blanket by putting it over his head like a ski mask & assuring me he can still breathe!! I definitely need a picture of this. I think I've figured out where Cameron gets this new trick. As I was getting up last night for the 100th time to check on Cameron, I looked over at Tim while he was sleeping and he had the covers over his head also! I give up.

Cameron is also practicing rolling over all the time. The problem is that once he rolls from his back to his stomach he can't figure out how to get back over. This becomes frustrating to him & he starts to raise a ruckus. He looks at you like--how did I get here??

Four Months Old--Bring on the Real Food!!

Cameron had his four month doctor's appointment yesterday. It went pretty smoothly despite the shots. He's a little trooper. He weighed 14 lbs. 13 ounces & measured 25 3/4 inches long. He is in the 75th percentile for height and 50th percentile for weight. Dr. Eldridge gave us the go ahead to start eating rice cereal. These pictures are of his first encounter with solid food. He wasn't that impressed with the cereal. He would rather chew on his fingers or the apple toy in his hands. This is his first high chair experience also. He seemed to enjoy sitting up straight so he could get a better view of what was going on. I think more cereal dribbled down his face than actually made it to his mouth. Check out the video of some of his first bites.

Catching up--the last 3 months

Happy Birthday, Cameron.

Tim & I were blessed with a beautiful baby boy born Memorial Day weekend. Cameron Walker arrived on May 23rd at 5:08 p.m.. He weighed 6 lbs. 15 oz. & was 20 1/2 inches long. He was delivered via Caesarean section by Dr. Rohrer at Women's East after 17 hours of labor!! Grandparents were all there eagerly awaiting his arrival. Now it all seems like a dream but seeing him for the first time was truly amazing.

Height & Weight Stats

1 month checkup--Weight 9 lbs. 14 oz. 21 1/4 inches long
2 month checkup--Weight 12 lbs. 14 oz. 23 1/4 inches long
**He likes to eat every two hours & sleeping for long periods of time is for the weak!!**

Cute things he did--baby bird face, snorting, covering his face w/his hands, he loves taking a bath, & prefers to sleep/nap on left side of chest to hear your heartbeat . He laughs out loud & it sounds like "eekk" or something resembling the velosaraptor screech out of the Jurassic Park movies. He also does this hilarious thing with his tongue that resembles a lizard--he sticks his tongue out constantly.

Cameron has been to his first birthday party, taken his first boat ride, & even slept overnight on the boat with mom & dad when he was 6 weeks old. Cameron is a happy baby who acts like he's trying to talk to you all the time. Sometimes it sounds like he's saying "hey" when he's babbling to you. He also has this "fake cough" he uses when he thinks you're not paying attention to him.

One of our first big milestones was reached on September 11th--he rolled over for the first time while entertaining himself on his playgym. He can roll from him back to his stomach but hasn't figured out how to get back over again.

Baby Blogging

Well, I've decided to give this blogging thing a try. I've not been successful at keeping up with or even starting Cameron's baby book & scrapbooking is totally out of the question. So, I think this is more realistic for me to manage & let everybody see Cameron's progression at the same time. It's amazing how much he's changed in four short months. I want to be able to remember, cherish, & document all the cute/amazing things he does. This is going to be Cameron's baby book for the 21st century!!
